Hoosat was created by Tonto, a developer from Finland with a vision for a faster, fairer blockchain. Built on the BlockDAG architecture, Hoosat achieves high throughput while remaining decentralised.
The Stetson at the South Pole stands in his honour. ๐
To appear as a coloured node instead of unknown, your Hoosat node needs to accept inbound connections on:
Ports 42420 & 42421 TCP
What to do: 1. Forward ports 42420 and 42421 TCP on your router to your node's local IP 2. Make sure your firewall allows both 3. Wait for the next crawl (every 4 hours)
โ Risks: Port 42421 is the P2P port used by all public Hoosat nodes โ safe to open. Port 42420 is the RPC port used by the HOOSATWORLD crawler to read your node version. It does not expose your wallet or any funds. Never open your wallet ports.
Watch any Hoosat address: live balance and deposits, historical transaction history, and a cross-check tool to tell internal transfers apart from real external deposits.

โ A heads up: some official HTN wallet options stopped working after a former
developer shut down the servers they depended on. The team is working on restoring the ones
marked below as offline or needing setup. Everything marked "Working" is confirmed good right now.

๐ฅ๏ธ Node Manager (built-in wallet)Working

See "Run Your Own Node" on this site โ
โจ๏ธ htnwallet (command line)Working
The official command-line wallet, bundled with every HTND node release. Full control over your keys, works with any node โ the most reliable option, but you'll need to be comfortable with a terminal.
The official mobile app. It ships with a default server that's currently offline โ after installing, go to Settings โ Node and add a working node address before it'll connect. The team is working on a default that doesn't need this step.
The hosted web wallet went offline when its old server was shut down. The team is working on restoring a hosted version. In the meantime, technical users can run it themselves from the source code below.
A community project to bring native HTN support directly into MetaMask โ send, receive and manage HTN without leaving your normal MetaMask wallet. Still being built, not yet available to install.
Mentioned around the community, but the team hasn't been able to confirm these actually exist or work yet. Listed here for completeness โ treat with caution until confirmed.

HOOSATWORLD · FAST SYNC
Skip the initial blockchain sync
Download a pre-built, hourly-refreshed, cryptographically signed chain snapshot instead of syncing from peers from scratch. A normal sync takes roughly 15–25 minutes — Fast Sync typically finishes in about 3 minutes.
⚠ Experimental early release
Fast Sync is new and actively being developed. Snapshots are checksummed and signed, but please back up anything important in your HTND data directory before using it.
⚠ Already using Node Manager?
Use its built-in Quick Sync button instead (Node Health → Auto Recovery to enable it) — it downloads, verifies, and applies this same snapshot automatically and safely, with no manual steps. This page is for advanced users running HTND directly without Node Manager.
Stop HTND first. Extract the archive directly into HTND's data directory (~/.htnd by default), stripping the archive's top-level folder:
tar -xzf archive.tar.gz --strip-components=1 -C ~/.htnd
Then start HTND again with --utxoindex (the snapshot always includes the UTXO index, so this flag should match).
Stop HTND first. Extract the archive directly into HTND's data directory (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Htnd by default), stripping the archive's top-level folder. Modern Windows 10/11 ships a built-in tar — run this in PowerShell:
tar -xzf archive.tar.gz --strip-components=1 -C "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Htnd"
Then start HTND again with --utxoindex (the snapshot always includes the UTXO index, so this flag should match).
⚠ This replaces all existing data
Back up first if you have anything in your HTND data directory you care about. If checksum verification fails on your end, discard the file and download again — do not use a file that fails verification.
🔒 Verify it's genuine
Every snapshot is checksummed and signed with the same key that signs Node Manager and Bridge releases. At minimum, verify the SHA256 checksum shown above matches: sha256sum archive.tar.gz

HOOSATWORLD · CHAIN INTEGRITY
Pruning point & chain verification
HOOSATWORLD (Node1) and its Fast Sync source (Node2) have been upgraded and re-synced using the Exodus datadir — a clean, verified dataset built to move the network past some rough patches in recent history. The pruning point below is how we confirm both nodes are running on this same solid foundation going forward.

There has been public discussion about Hoosat’s total coin supply. This page shows the figures side by side — what the emission schedule says should exist, what our own nodes report, and the known, already-resolved burn event — updating in real time, so anyone can check it for themselves.

When the network is fast, k drops and finality accelerates.
When latency spikes, k rises to keep consensus safe.

The Hoosat testnet runs on a fresh chain, reset on 12 October 2026 and now on HTND v2.18.2. The earlier post-quantum test chain (ML-DSA-44, NIST FIPS 204) has been retired; the post-quantum code is still in the build, but on testnet it stays switched off until block version 15 (postponed by the developers). Anyone can run a testnet node. The live stats below come from Node4, the testnet node run by hoosatworld.net.
Verified live, not just claimed โ this node's own reported version:โ
How to join the Hoosat testnet
Works on Linux and Windows. You need at least 4 GB of RAM and some free disk space. Testnet coins have no value, so it is safe to try. On Windows, run the same commands in PowerShell, and the programs end in .exe inside %USERPROFILE%\go\bin instead of ~/go/bin.
1. Install the tools
Install git and Go (the latest stable Go from go.dev/dl is fine).
2. Download and build HTND
git clone https://github.com/HoosatNetwork/HTND.git
cd HTND
git checkout 2.18.2
go install -tags "deadlock pebblegozstd" . ./cmd/...
This builds the node (HTND), the wallet (htnwallet) and the miner (htnminer) into ~/go/bin. The version name 2.18.2 will change when a new version comes out; the latest one is always announced in the Discord #testnet channel.
3. Run the node
~/go/bin/HTND --testnet --utxoindex -a htn.foztor.net:42423 --allow-submit-block-when-not-synced
--testnet selects the test network. -a gives it a peer to connect to, because the testnet DNS seeds are switched off for now. --utxoindex lets the wallet see your balance. The last option lets a brand-new node get going while it is still empty. Leave it running. The first sync takes a while: it is done when it stops catching up and keeps adding new blocks.
4. Make a test address (open a second window)
~/go/bin/genkeypair --testnet
It prints a Private key and an Address. The address starts with hoosattest: and is where your mined coins go. Save the private key somewhere safe: it controls the coins, and you can import it into a wallet later (htnwallet import-private-key).
Replace hoosattest:YOUR_ADDRESS_HERE with the address from step 4. -t 1 uses a single CPU core. Wait until the node from step 3 is fully synced before you start the miner, otherwise it can mine on the wrong chain.
6. Upgrade the node
When a new version is announced: stop the miner and the node (Ctrl+C in each window), then:
cd HTND
git fetch --all
git checkout <new version from #testnet>
go install -tags "deadlock pebblegozstd" . ./cmd/...
Start the node and the miner again with the same commands as before. Your synced data is kept. If the announcement says the testnet was reset, also delete the old testnet data folder first (on Linux: ~/.htnd/testnet*) so the node starts on the new chain. Your address and private key from step 4 still work on the new chain.
Tip: you can check your node is on the same chain as ours by comparing the DAA score and block count in the live stats below.
